First Anniversary in the Bahamas!

Having had such an awesome honeymoon destination in Blelize last year, Rob and I knew it would be a hard trip to top! We decided upon the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas for 7 days. It might just be that I am used to the annoying Bermuda flight with a connection by now that it never dawned on me just how close (and easy) it is to get to the Bahamas. A quick 60 minute flight from Orlando and we were there!

The resort there is HUGE and the property we stayed at -The Reef, was nicely decked out and was very modern. The view from our balcony was also great! The weather cooperated for the mose part leaving me golden brown and Rob not in the ICU for sunburn. Upon arival, we toured the stretch of property known as Atlantis and quickly found the nurses station... just incase Rob's Irish skin might  need it!

The highlights of our trip included a California Sea Lion named Freebie and a Bottle Nosed Dolphin named Jill. Freebie weighed in at a whopping 500 pounds (down from 600!) and just recently had cataract surgery and ole Jill was 46 years old- the oldest dolphin there. Both of these animals were rescued after Hurricane Katrina destroyed thye Marine Life Oceanarium in Gulfport, Mississippi.

Other than playing with various sea ceatures, we managed to soak in the sun and float around in inner tubes for several hours. Rob only managed to lose or break 2 pairs on sunglasses in less than 24 hours and the casino gods did not look down upon us favorably either!
